There is a new store opening in Old Town, just a few blocks away from my office, and I am EXCITED!
This seems odd to me, as I don’t generally get excited about going shopping for many things (I HATE clothes shopping!), but this store caters to one of my loves. And it is just around the corner from both the bead store and the yarn store. AND it is near my favorite pie place. Huzzah!
In fact, I learned about this new business from the Fiber Space newsletter. The new store, Stitch Sew Shop, will be opening on May 1, just off of King and N. Fayette.
They’ll be carrying notions and selected fabrics and and AND they’ll be carrying independent patterns! Double huzzah!
It’s difficult to keep track of all the independent designers out there. While this store won’t carry them all, it will go a fair way towards helping these patterns find a wider market. I’m excited about the lines they’ll be carrying – all designers I’ve been wanting to try, but I’m not fond of the PDF patterns that seem to be more common. I like puzzles, and all, but I kind of want the ease of having someone else print out my pattern for me.
The store was still under wraps the other day, when Robert and I wandered past it, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak…at the windows. Because I thought the use of pattern paper was fantastic.
I’ll be sure to report back on the store once it opens (I plan to go Monday of its first week, after I get off work).
For now, I’ll leave you with this adorable shot of Raven, doing his best to convince me to never stop petting him. It has nothing to do with the sewing shop, but you have to admit…he’s one adorable kitty.
